Job Summary

The position will be based in Dar but providing technical support to specific regions and districts of focus under the USAID Boresha Afya Project. In collaboration Ministry of Health Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHSW) colleagues, s/he will provide technical assistance for developing and maintaining mechanisms to facilitate coordination and linkages of demand creation and community engagement   to reach its goals through effective information, education, communications and community engagement approaches. S/he will build relationships with different stakeholders and community leaders within the region offices in order to foster community engagement for family planning and other reproductive health services, and link facility care to community mobilization and services.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate communities to identify reproductive health problems, plan for prevention and management of the problems, and implement and evaluate outcomes.

Plan and implement strategies for creating demand for family planning and other reproductive health services supported by the region office in collaboration with the MOHSW at the regional and district levels, and at the community level.

Facilitate communities and districts to collect and use gender disaggregated data for planning integration of RH/FP community engagement

Act as a link between communities, district Councils and USAID Boresha Afya Project regional office and headquarters staff on issues related to demand creation and  community engagement

Work with media to educate communities on family planning and linkages/integration between FP and other RH services

Work with monitoring and evaluation colleagues to document and measure the results of demand creation and community engagement activities. Provide technical input into USAID Boresha Afya Project quarterly and annual regional reports to reflect progress and results related to implementation of demand, supply and community engagement activities in the region

Jointly provide technical assistance to monitor and supervise specific programs of community engagement and behavior change communication strategies undertaken at district levels as assigned. Also evaluate and report on RH/FP Campaigns implementation activities and modify protocols based on available data.

Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other senior management Officer(s).

Education, Experience and Certifications

First degree in community development, public health, sociology or other relevant social sciences discipline.

7+ years in working at the community level demand creation interventions; deep knowledge of Reproductive Health and Family Planning IEC/BCC materials.

Previous experience working with district authorities, especially district development officers, and community health providers.

Proficient in Swahili, and English.

Experience writing reports for donor funded projects.
